#bigschoolrun

The final few months of 2014 were spent deep in discussion with a few friends discussing the best way to go about creating what became the Big School Run. The brief was clear - a) I want to raise money for the Rory Walworth Memorial Fund, and b) I want to push myself to do something worthy of sponsorship.

Having discussed a couple of options I quite liked the idea of visiting every school Rory lined up against during his time at Bishops. However, having been reminded by an old friend that this included Truro, Hartpury College and Pangbourne I settled on visiting the schools I played against with Rory - fortunately from a logistical point of view I didn't play in those fixtures!

Fortunately I find myself in a position where I'm surrounded by incredible professionals offering support to high performance athletes on a daily basis, meaning that absolutely no stone can remain unturned regarding my own preparation and the support I'll have throughout the event.

So, on Saturday 6th June I'll don my trainers and head out from Marlborough College into the first of 340 miles. I've already been so lucky in receiving messages of support and offerings of assistance in many forms - these are all warmly welcomed as I have no misconceptions about the challenge in front of me. Having said that, the kinship shared by all those who knew Rory will, I'm sure, have no problem getting me around every last mile to Britford Lane.
